Living History + Demonstration Day | March 14, 2020
Join the living history activities from 10 am – 2 pm at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma. During this event, you’ll:
- Relive the winter of 1849 and share the struggles of the miners as they slogged through the wet winter.
- Learn about the travails of the overland journey at the wagon barn.
- Visit the camp cooks for a lesson on Dutch oven cooking.
- Pan for gold or make a poke to carry your treasures.
- Visit the millworkers’ cabin to hear tales of the gold discovery and the building of Sutter’s Mill
At 1:00 pm join our demonstration day activities as we explore processing wool for spinning into yarn! You’ll
- Watch as we shear a sheep.
- Get hands-on experience in processing and dying the wool in preparation for spinning.
- Join us April 11 as we spin the wool into yarn!
