As if that’s not enough of an incentive to plan a stay at Ponderosa Ridge B&B, we’ve got four more reasons:
1. Ponderosa Ridge is centrally located
The bed and breakfast is in the heart of Apple Hill, literally around the corner from Abel’s Apple Acres. It’s an ideal launchpad for a weekend of exploring local wineries, farms, bakeshops, and Christmas tree farms.
The town of Placerville is approximately four miles away, with access to Historic Main Street’s restaurants, boutiques, and historic buildings.
Coloma, home to river rafting adventures, Gold Rush history, and Marshall Gold Discovery State Park, is only 12 miles away for those looking for adventure further afield.
2. Each of the rooms has a unique personality
Ponderosa Ridge’s three bedrooms may all look different, but they all have carefully curated décor, comfortable beds, and high-quality bedding that ensure a restful night. In addition, all rooms have a door to the wraparound deck, which provides easy access to the Hot Tub room.
The Garden Room is a bright, cheerful, and quiet corner room with an incredible shower that features a waterfall design. It’s the closest room to the hot tub, offering views of the gazebo and verdant greenery that surrounds the Inn.
Bringing your pooch? Rover’s Room is Ponderosa Ridge’s dog-friendly room. It’s also the largest, with a seating area by the electric fireplace, plus a dog bed and eating area for your pup!
You don’t have to be a cowgirl (or boy) at heart to appreciate the Western Room and its classic rustic décor. Besides the wagon wheels, authentic yoke, and cowhide that decorate the room, you can enjoy the view of the gazebo and surrounding foliage while planning your day’s adventures from the two wing-back chairs.
3. It has its own apple orchard!
Ponderosa Ridge boasts a three-acre apple orchard on its 11-acre property, featuring six varieties of apples: Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Mutsu, Fuji, and Arkansas Black. During apple season in the fall, guests can pick apples off the trees with a genuine apple picker. Be sure to ask Bill for directions to the orchard!
Fun fact: Ponderosa Ridge’s orchard is the reason why it’s part of the Apple Hill Growers. All members must grow something as a requirement for membership. It’s also the only bed and breakfast in the organization!
4. Bonnie’s breakfasts are phenomenal
Let’s face it, one of the joys of staying at a bed & breakfast is the food. And the breakfasts at Ponderosa Ridge exceed expectations – and then some!
Bonnie’s seasonal recipes draw from the local produce, including apple, berries, and pumpkin. And guests always enjoy baked goods served straight from the oven.
