Jaclyn Lovey’s Top Spots in El Dorado County

El Dorado County is home to people of varied talents and backgrounds, from artists to oenologists, historians to explorers. So, in some ways, it’s not surprising that Jaclyn Lovey, one of the performers on the 14th season of NBC’s hit show “The Voice” is from this part of the world.

Jaclyn Lovey was born and raised in Placerville. At 11, her family took an RV trip to Nashville where she recorded her first original song. They say it takes a village, and Jaclyn’s story is no different. The Placerville community has shown its support by helping her record her first EP, taking ballet lessons, and providing a piano for her.

We wanted to find out what inspires her music and creativity, and what her favorite spots are in El Dorado County.

Where do you find inspiration for your music? Has life in El Dorado County helped inspire you?

I find inspiration in anything. I can never predict what will move me, and if I could, creating music would probably become less appealing. So, to answer: people, stories, other music, and other forms of art, all inspire me, and many times those things come from El Dorado County.

What are your 3 favorite spots in El Dorado County? What makes them special?

  1. My home, as cheesy as that sounds. It’s where I’ve spent nearly all my life growing up and making music.

  2. Lovers Leap – It’s a mountain that I hike quite frequently. I am a huge fan of nature and need a constant dose of it to feel healthy. (Editor tip: The views of Desolation Wilderness and the surrounding peaks from the top are worth the climb. Bring your camera!).

    HeyDay Cafe in Placerville
Enjoy local wines with the creative menu at HeyDay Cafe in Placerville.

  3. Downtown Placerville – I’ve performed at many venues there, and eaten at nearly all the restaurants, and I can’t walk there without recognizing someone. It’s my hometown in a nutshell. (Editor tip: Be sure to visit Placerville Hardware, the oldest hardware store west of the Mississippi before grabbing a bite at Heyday Café or a craft cocktail at Bricks).

If you don’t bump into Jaclyn hiking or performing in and around Placerville, you can watch her on The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC. And if you missed her audition, it’s worth a watch!
