What a Way to Start the Day

Many agree that a good breakfast is a great way to start the day. But that may not look the same for all of us. So we suggest trying one of these incredible breakfast spots with easy access to the El Dorado Trail for a morning stroll.

Sweetie Pie’s

Sweetie Pie’s is located in a quaint Victorian house on the east end of Placerville’s Main Street.  It’s been a popular breakfast spot for travelers on the way to Lake Tahoe since 1991.  If you’re in a hurry, come early, especially on the weekends.

However, if you are not an early bird, the daily fresh-baked breads, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and pastries will definitely be worth the wait. The Chile Relleno Casserole and the turkey and asparagus omelet are customer favorites. But the Olallieberry pancakes are pretty hard to beat.

Annie’s Mimosas

Tucked away on Placerville Drive, Annie’s Mimosas is a local favorite and a well-kept secret.  It’s a small café with an extensive menu and excellent customer service. The menu features six different benedicts, nine omelets, and more than a dozen mimosas, just to name a few. Chili Verde Enchiladas and the Breakfast Burrito are fan favorites.

Pachamama Coffee

If coffee is the most crucial part of your breakfast, Pachamama Coffee (formerly Totem Coffee Roasters). is the one for you.  Located in the heart of downtown Placerville, the charming courtyard is the perfect place to sip your coffee and start your day. They offer light breakfast items, including gluten-free pastries and vegan options.

Buttercup Pantry Restaurant & Bakery

Has been an icon in Placerville since 1985, serving country-style comfort fare.  They serve a hearty country breakfast made from scratch throughout the day. You will be charmed by the vintage pieces and the country décor.  Check out the mid-century vending machines in the front and the delightful teapot collection, on display throughout the restaurant.  Many of the antiques have been gifted to the restaurant by the regular customers.
